COE COLLEGE
In Cedar Rapids, Iowa, there is a private liberal arts college called Coe College. It was established in 1851 and has long been connected to the Presbyterian Church (USA). The college belongs to the Association of Presbyterian Universities and Colleges and the Associated Colleges of the Midwest. Rev. Williston Jones established Coe College as the Institute for the Prophets in 1851.
Jones met farmer Daniel Coe when canvassing churches in the East to seek funds for students to attend Eastern seminaries. Coe gave Jones $1,500 and urged him to start a college in Cedar Rapids. Coe’s gift included the requirement that the college provides instruction to both men and women. The Cedar Rapids campus was established as a co-educational school when it first began as the Cedar Rapids State College. After receiving a special gift from T.M. Sinclair, the creator of the Sinclair Meat Packing Corporation, the college was eventually created as Coe College in 1881. The college had previously been restored as Coe College Institute in 1875.
In 1907, Coe received accreditation from the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
Bachelor of Arts (Bachelor of Arts), Bachelor of Music (B.M.), and B.sc in Nursing degrees are offered by Coe College (B.S.N.). Coe offers over 60 areas of study, and it also gives students the choice to choose their own major with faculty advice. 40% of Coe students multi-major and complete their degrees in four years. A chance for an internship, independent study, or research is available to every student.
ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP
Undergraduates who choose to focus on a single subject or area of study have access to more than 50 majors. Foreign languages like French and German are among them. In addition to other foreign language courses, the college
provides French Studies so that students can learn more than simply the basics of the language. The majority of these programs offer students the opportunity to engage in study abroad courses and become fully immersed in one of those nations. For students who desire to study history, philosophy, and other subjects, there are additional programs in American Studies and Gender Studies.
Numerous science and math majors are available at Coe College, including those in chemistry and mathematics. The Molecular Biology curriculum is well-liked by students who desire to work in research labs and healthcare facilities. The social and criminal law curriculum at the college examines the influence of society on violence in the United States as well as the relationships between criminal law and other disciplines. The Center for Innovation & Careers is located in McCabe Hall on the college’s campus. Anyone who wants to go to graduate school or is enrolled in a pre-professional program can get assistance from this facility.
In order to support its diverse foreign student body, Coe College provides scholarships, fellowships, and on-campus work-study opportunities that are renewable. Our resources are limited, so students should typically anticipate paying for some of their educational costs.
SCHOOL COSTS AND FINANCIAL AID
The annual cost of attendance at Coe College exceeds $50,000. This includes the $350 in fees that each student must pay as well as the $45,230 in yearly tuition. Additionally, students will shell out about $9,800 a year for accommodation and board. Only the college’s tuition and other associated costs are charged to students who live with their families. Unless they are married or their family resides nearby, Coe mandates that university students live on-campus.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE COE COLLEGE UNDERGRADUATE GRANT
A student must attend a foreign high school and must be a citizen of the United States in order to be eligible to apply. Students must plan to attend Coe College full-time while pursuing an undergraduate degree, live in residential housing on campus, and satisfy all admissions requirements.
