BALL STATE UNIVERSITY
Ball State University is a public institution in Muncie, Indiana (also known as Ball State, State, or BSU). Fishers and Indianapolis, it has new satellite facilities.
The Ball brothers, business people, and the creators of the Ball Corporation paid $35,100 for the foreclosed Indiana National Institute on July 25, 1917, and then donated the building and the surrounding property to the State of Indiana. The Indiana General Assembly approved the bequest in the spring of 1918, and on June 17, 1918, the Indiana State Normal School’s Eastern Division’s first 235 students began their studies there.
The university has seven academic colleges in it. 21,597 students were enrolled overall as of Fall 2020, comprising 15,205 undergraduates and 5,817 postgraduates. About 120 undergraduate majors, 130 minor fields of study, and more than 100 master’s, doctorate, certificate, and specialized degrees are available via the university.
ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP
For Ball School youths majoring in media or minoring in media, David Letterman established a scholarship program in 1985.
He received his diploma from the Faculty of Media in 1969. Letterman, who considered himself an ordinary student, focused his scholarship more on originality than on academic performance.
A unique project, such as writing, study, interactive entertainment, computer graphics, or websites, must be submitted by applicants.

ELIGIBILITY
Students must also fulfill the following requirements in addition to submitting a creative project:
• Should, at the conclusion of the fall semester, have a total of 30 to 102 credits before applying.
• declare media as a major or minor.
• at the time of application, be registered in at least 12 hours of media courses.
• Maintain full-time enrollment in classes the semester following receipt of the award.
CRITERIA
• Grades are not to be used as a factor or requirement for eligibility, evaluation, or consideration, but recipients must have grades that are high enough to meet the minimum enrollment standards of Ball State University and the Department of Media.
Why The major consideration for each scholarship is inventiveness. As long as it can be classified as creative in the field of media, this can take the shape of a written project, a research endeavor, an audio project, an interactive media project, a digital design, a website, or a similar presentation. Instead of a team, the submission will be the “intellectual property of one person.” If there are multiple participants, only one individual can be named the winner. The collaborative group will be needed to choose the designee and provide that person’s name in writing together with the signatures of all members.
• The Letterman Media Grants will be given out irrespective of irrelevant characteristics including race, religion, sex, nationality, ethnic background, or disability. It is assumed that the scholarship recipients will provide their permission for the scholarships to be publicized and will send a copy of their submission to be included in the Letterman Prize Library.
EVALUATION
Your creative work will be judged by a panel made up of two graduate students and media faculty members. Work will be done independently of the other evaluators. An administrative coordinator will compute the rankings and totals. The department will give the award at the media award ceremony.
NAME OF THE PROJECT
Include a maximum of two pages outlining the conception, development, and preparation of your creative endeavor. Always give credit where credit is due for any outside help you may have gotten. This is to be the idea of one person, not of a group. Even though certain entries could require a team, the submission should nonetheless be the work of a single individual. The collaborative group must decide on the designee and provide that person’s name in writing together with the signatures of all members.
ADVANCED COPIES
The Letterman Prize Library will receive copies of all winners’ entries, and the department’s administrative coordinator will also receive a copy to send to Mr. Letterman.
ESSENTIAL PROOF
A review board may request documentation proving the legitimacy of each winner’s project. Keep all primary sources on hand for the review. The reward you receive will be in jeopardy if you don’t follow the interview procedure.
