Bhutan’s overseas development support from Australia contributes to the country’s economy, poverty reduction, and political stability. Australia Awards in Bhutan, as part of this development aid, strives to:

Applicants for Australian Awards are judged on their personal and professional skills, academic competency, and, most significantly, their capacity to contribute to economic development in Bhutan upon their return. Women, individuals with disabilities, and other historically marginalized groups are especially encouraged to apply.
Australia Scholarships
The research and study opportunities presented by the Australian Awards Scholarship enable winners to expand their skills and knowledge while also assisting them in developing networks that will help them impact the condition and contribute to the growth.
Emerging Bhutanese leaders can apply for Australia Awards Scholarships to study full-time graduate studies in priority topics related to Bhutan’s development in Australia. Scholars receive excellent support throughout their time in Australia.
Eligibility
Bhutanese who pass the strict qualifying criteria are eligible to apply. Applicants from traditionally marginalized groups, including women, individuals with disabilities, and people from historically marginalized groups, are invited to apply.
Each year, between the 1st of February and the 30th of April, application for Australian Awards Scholarships is accepted. During the application time, this website will have information on how to apply, as well as the essential supporting material.
Awards for Short Courses in Australia Short Courses provide a chance for Bhutanese and South Asians to participate in short-term training and skill development aimed at solving important development concerns. Short Courses funded by the Australia Awards enable participants to improve their skills and knowledge while also assisting them in forming networks that will help them influence change and lead to development.

Applicants who have been shortlisted will be invited to an interview. The interviews will center on your plans to school in Australia, your character and career qualities, and how you plan to use your education to help your country thrive.

- Q5 Are you currently serving in the military?
