The THE BETTER TOGETHER SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 2022 is currently ongoing, and qualified applicants are advised to send in their application.
Without the help of countless individuals who support our education, personal growth, and professional development, Better Together would not be possible.
The Better Together Scholarship was created to provide resources to students in the Dallas-Fort Worth area who are looking to continue their education.
With this new scholarship, eligible undergraduates in Washington, D.C., and Virginia can start receiving a $100 per-credit scholarship on the out-of-state tuition costs.
REQUIREMENTS FOR ELIGIBILITY
You must apply for the Better Together Scholarship if you want to be considered.
• You must meet UMGC’s undergraduate admissions requirements.
• You’ve completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) (FAFSA)
• Be a resident of another state who qualifies for out-of-state tuition.
• Have never enrolled at UMGC before
• Have a minimum of 6 college credits accepted for transfer to UMGC.
• You must be able to meet all the requirements.
Please note that in order to be eligible, you must have obtained a financial aid offer letter.
This scholarship is not available to new students paying in-state or military tuition rates.
PAYMENT OF THE BETTER TOGETHER SCHOLARSHIP
Depending on the changes you make to your enrollment, the amount of your scholarship award may be adjusted. If you take additional eligible courses, you will obtain extra scholarship money.
Any scholarship funds you receive for classes you withdraw from, fail, and perhaps do not earn credit for will be applied to your account beginning in the 2021-2022 financial aid year, but the award amount may be predicated on your remaining balance due after other financial assistance or tuition cost adjustments are made.
Irrespective of any award amount proration, these credits still add up toward your optimum attempted credits while receiving this scholarship.
You can also apply for THE COLLEGE COUNTS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
RENEWING THE BETTER TOGETHER SCHOLARSHIP
If you meet all of the following ongoing eligibility criteria and continue to meet the original eligibility requirements, you can restore your scholarship award:
• Meet the university’s Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements.
• Have not attempted more than the maximum number of credits at UMGC:
• Each term, enroll in and complete at least three credits with a C or better; this enrollment must be continuous.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Any UMGC student fees discount, such as the FED Program discount, cannot be combined with this scholarship.
The Better Together Scholarship can be earned during the summer term, but it is not required for enrollment. If you choose to register for summer semester courses, however, you must continue to meet the eligibility requirements outlined above.
If you do not meet the scholarship’s continuing eligibility requirements, you may appeal for the scholarship to be recovered through the Help Center. Make sure to include your UMGC student ID number, which is seven digits long.
Exceptional family and/or medical emergencies, as well as military orders, are usually the only grounds for an appeal. A signed private declaration as well as supporting documentation must be included with your appeal.
The Better Together Scholarship does not require a separate application. If you meet the eligibility requirements, you will be considered for the scholarship, and UMGC will communicate directly with you if you are chosen.
